I am thoroughly team brooch this week. On my to-do list for tomorrow is to go through my collection of costume brooches that belonged to my grandmothers to add some sparkle to a classic, decades old a-line black dress I thrifted from my mom’s closet.
Besides that, I appreciate the 80/20 approach. Lots to think about!
I love this because it perfectly sums up my shopping strategy. Everyone needs a broad base of foundational pieces but if we only had that, our closets would be hella uninspiring. I appreciated thinking about spending on maximalist stuff from an 80/20 perspective too. Sometimes a special accessories calls to me but it shouldn't eat my budget.
Love this--your graphics are always fantastic, but your writing is where it's AT. I have to reflect on this 80/20 ratio for my own wardrobe, but definitely agree there's an inner maximalist to every minimalist (and vice-versa!)
I loved this and will be saving it! I find that shoes and coats are my favorite ways to add boldness into my wardrobe. This year was a big belt renaissance for me!
Such a great post! Love both accessories, but I'm leaning more towards belts as well.
Thank you so much for reading, Dea! I definitely had a belt epiphany of sorts this year 👌🏻
Ooooo! Genius!
Love this!!! I‘be adapted a similar approach to shopping in the last year or so and it has totally changed my wardrobe for the better.
yay! 80/20 is such a simple yet infinitely adaptable concept.

Oooh your costume family heirloom brooches sound amazing. Would love to see some pics with the vintage LBD!
Oh, you can count on it - I want to get your opinion on the layout of the brooches

I was going to page you, Kelly, given your midimalist philosophy 😊 Shopping vintage for OOAK accessories is the sweet spot for quality and value!

Thank you Sarah 🫶🏻 I'm super curious what you find out with a little 80/20 assessment of your wardrobe, keep me posted!
Thank you for the mention ! Loving the 80/20 rule—I feel like I’m probably at 70/30.
As soon as I saw that NYT article on draft pick lookbook I thought of you! 😊
I actually just wrote one on the WNBA too!
