I was so glad to see your Substack! I read your blog almost ten years ago and it was bothering me that I couldn’t remember the name when I pulled out a pair of fold over Splendid leggings you recommended years ago. Some favorite B list movies for me would be Mrs. Doubtfire, Batman from 1989, and the cartoon Beauty and the Beast.

Grace, I'm so happy to have you as a reader after all this time! 💕 Beauty and the Beast will forever be one of my top 3 90s Disney all time faves. Btw I love my foldover leggings, they're still one of my go-tos for travel!

Same!! I was so glad to come upon your Substack after reading your blog many years ago. Beauty and the Beast was my favorite Disney movie, but now I have kids, and I have to say, Moana may edge it out.

Unrelated question: do you still use your Balenciaga city?

Hi A.! I am so happy to have you here as a longtime reader! 🥰 please feel free to chime in here often. I watched Moana on a flight to Hawaii and I was laughing and crying in coach. Pure Disney magic. And yes, I do still use my OG early 2000s Bal city! The chèvre leather is still smooshy and has taken years of wear and tear like a champ. Are you considering one?

Moana is wonderful ❤️

I didn’t have and never wanted the Bal city the first time around, and I’m mostly mystified by the comeback of trends popular when I was 14, but something about that particular bag makes me curious and nostalgic.

I know what you mean. I still use mine because it's just very practical with a side of luxe. Packs flat and lightweight but holds plenty. A really great design by Nicolas Ghesquière, even if its hype days has passed.

Thinking back, I think I became interested in the bag when I learned that Myriam Schaefer designed it when she was at Balenciaga.

Long term is the way! B-list for me: always a walk (esp on a day like today in NY), leisurely tea time, pm skincare routine with a YouTube video in the background, decluttering/laundry while listening to music/podcast, totally agree on making a go-to recipe (mine is doenjang jjigae) :)

Jenny I love your B-list! I also enjoy putting on something interesting while folding laundry (so boring otherwise!). Jjigae is also one of my faves, so comforting.

What a lovely post. I found you through a rabbit warren of other posts, and I am so happy I landed here. My B-list includes time doing almost anything with my dog, my horse, old movies: Casablanca, Singing in the Rain, It's a Wonderful Life, Rear Window...(the list goes on), listening to books on tape, podcasts (Wiser Than Me is a personal gift that Julia Louis Dreyfus has given me), talking on the phone with long-term and beloved friends.

It's so lovely to have you land here, Ligeia 😊 I love your B-list. Our relationships with our beloved four-legged family members are magical and teach us so much. JLD's podcast is on my listen list! I have always been a huge fan of Julia (Veep is beyond brilliant).

So pleased to see you love Lost in Translation - me too. Also Charade with Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant. My son makes bookcases out of recycled wood and the one he made for me makes me very happy. Walking home in early evening when it's just dark enough for the street lamps, especially if it's raining. Re reading favourite books.

What a talented and handy son you have, Sue :) Audrey is a delight in so many of her films. To Catch a Thief is also up there in my Cary Grant faves. There are many cinematic moments in our everyday life, if we pause to notice and appreciate them. I think that's one of the reasons why SC's films resonate with me so much.

Love this! My b-list includes reading mystery novels and baking a favorite recipe I’ve made so often it is meditative.

A great mystery novel with a cup of tea or coffee is one of life's great pleasures! Ditto the zen of baking.

100% feeling your B-list. Mine includes any kind of exercise, beach walks, listening to a podcast or audiobook while ironing and folding laundry, re-reading an old novel, having coffee on my balcony and not having my phone with me, spending quality time with friends, shopping with curiosity (not compulsion), opening my closet and feeling happy when I see favourite pieces, walking around my flat turning on all my nice little lamps when it starts getting dark.

It is hard to sit with disillusionment. Lately, I have been experimenting with meditation, which isn't easy but it does help!

How did people fold laundry before podcasts and streaming content? 😋 Love that quiet moment at dusk when the lights start to come on in people's homes. Your lamps sound lovely! (The soft light from lamps and floor light fixtures always make me happy vs overhead can lights.) Taking a scenic walk and looking at the sea are meditation shortcuts for me. I'm working on doing longer meditations, it definitely takes practice and effort!
